To enable this, we need team members who fully live our OneTeam value, which is at the heart of everything we do at Ovarro. We are now looking for a Legal Assistant to join the Legal Team.
This role is focused on assisting the Legal Team in providing commercial and contractual support to the Ovarro group of companies. Your work will involve commercial and contractual matters but will also cover supporting wider risk management issues including governance and process issues, data protection, and other areas typical of the work of in-house legal teams.
Responsibilities:
* Dealing with a variety of queries from colleagues and customers ensuring responses within agreed timescales
* Liaising with colleagues to support the management of different legal projects
* Assisting with general legal matters that affect the organisation
* Supporting the legal department by managing an efficient legal document filing system
* Drafting, checking, and amending a range of contractual documents and policies
* Performing legal research on a variety of issues and writing research memoranda
* Supporting the organisation’s compliance activities
* Liaising with external service providers
Experience:
* Basic understanding of contract and intellectual property law
* Prior administrative experience in a legal environment is preferable
* Previous experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents
Skills and Attributes:
* Strong literacy skills and confidence in using Microsoft Office programmes
* Displays a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to apply a logical and analytical approach to work
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Ability to track and prioritise a large and varied workload in a demanding environment
* Excellent organisational skills
* A proactive, professional, and self-motivated approach to work
* Keen to develop over a period of time with a willingness and ability to learn
* Team player who can collaborate with different functions effectively and professionally at all levels
Knowledge/Education:
* Either a graduate (ideally in law) or a paralegal with a good secondary education
* Basic knowledge of contract and intellectual property law
* Previous experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents
