What you’ll do at work
McLaren Automotive is in search of motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Powertrain Technicians to play a pivotal role in our commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive technology.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work with industry-leading professionals, contribute to the building and development of powertrain systems, and be at the forefront of innovation in internal combustion engines (ICE) for our road and customer racing cars.
Key Responsibilities:
* Test Execution: Conduct comprehensive testing of powertrain systems, including internal combustion engines, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
* Data Acquisition: Utilise advanced instrumentation and data acquisition tools to collect, analyse, and interpret test data, providing valuable insights for the powertrain development team.
* Engine building: Support teardown and engine build activities.
* Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to powertrain performance, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions.
* Testing Protocols: Follow established testing protocols and contribute to the development of new test procedures to evaluate the efficiency, durability, and overall performance of powertrain components.
* Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of test procedures, results, and any modifications made during testing, ensuring comprehensive documentation for future reference.
* Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to support the development and refinement of powertrain systems, contributing to McLaren's commitment to excellence.

Please note you will need to be able to travel 1 day per week to Milton Keynes College for qualification training.
The McLaren Automotive Head Office is located in Woking. This role will be situated at one of their locations in Milton Keynes.

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
* Five GCSEs at Grade 4(C) or above including English and Maths or equivalent (grade 4)
