The ideal candidate will have proven health assessment skills and ideally be an independent non-medical prescriber or working towards this qualification. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high complexity clinics and acting as a clinical resource for members of the wider PreAMS team. A list of main tasks and duties are outlined below but are not exhaustive due to the evolving nature of this unique role and service. We currently provide a 7 day service across both sites and there is opportunity for flexible working. Main duties of the job To work as an autonomous senior clinical Nurse Practitioner within a Nurse-Led Service across both Royal Stoke and County sites. Managing their own patient caseload daily and overseeing the caseloads of junior colleagues as requested. The Practitioner has personal responsibility for undertaking a nursing assessment of patients prior to admission for elective surgery, and for arranging care provision for the patient on admission to hospital and commencement of discharge planning. To provide the patients and their carer(s) information regarding their surgery and anaesthesia. Ensuring every patient is fully informed about their proposed procedure and the interventions that will need to be undertaken. To assess adult patients' fitness for anaesthesia prior to elective surgery, by undertaking the clerking, medical and anaesthetic history of a patient and undertake a honed physical examination to ensure appropriate investigations are carried out and prescribing medications as guided by agreed protocols.
