Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Critical Care Unit (ITU/HDU) at the Princess of Wales Hospital is now looking to recruit a Senior Sister /Charge Nurse at Band 7.
The Critical Care Unit at the Princess of Wales Hospital is an 8 bedded unit providing integrated level 2 and 3 care to a wide cohort of patients including surgical, medical, renal, gynaecology, trauma, orthopaedics, and maternity. We also care for critically ill patients requiring stabilisation before transfer to regional services.
The post holder will be required to ensure the highest standard of patient centred care. This will reflect the high quality standards and values and behaviours of the University Health Board, and contribute to the implementation of policies and procedures within their sphere of responsibility.
The post holder will provide clinical care to acutely ill patients. The will also be responsible for guidance, supervision and management of the day to day running of the department and development of staff.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly motivated and caring individual with proven critical care knowledge and skills.
This position will allow the successful candidates to join our existing established and highly motivated team of experienced critical care nurses in providing high quality and professional services for critically ill adult patients. The Critical Care Service will be going through an exciting period of transformation UHB-wide.

The psot holder will practice at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical decision-making.
The post holder will need exceptional interpersonal, communication, decision making and organisational skills, along with stamina and flexibility in order to meet the demands of the role and a flexible working pattern.
The post holder will have extensive experience in a similar post or at band 6, successfully completed the CC3N Step Competencies Level 4 or equivalent, and be in possession of a recognised critical care course at an advanced level.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
