Job overview
We are looking to welcome three new Theatre Support workers to our diverse expanding neurosurgery theatre team. The successful candidates will be expected to work as part of the peri-operative team to undertake patient care and maintain a clean and safe environment for the patient.
Main duties of the job
* Prepare own work space including equipment required on a daily basis and plan their own day.
* Report any accidents or near misses to the appropriate manager and complete the appropriate incident/accident report forms.
* Escort pre and post-operative patients in a safe and appropriate manner to and from theatre.
* Assist other theatre staff with the individual care needs within the clinical area.
* After appropriate training and assessment, undertake a range of basic observations and personal care under supervision.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Records basic observations and reports them to supervising theatre staff.
* Articulates concerns about the welfare of any patient to a registered practitioner immediately.
* Maintains the privacy and dignity of patients.
* Assists in the transfer and positioning of anaesthetised patients.
* Ensures safe practice to minimise infection risks.
Communication
* Exchanges routine information with patients in a sensitive manner.
* Liaise with the Facilities and Estates Helpdesk maintaining professionalism.
Service Delivery and Improvement
* To have a flexible approach to working with new innovations and technologies.
* Participate in regular team meetings and training.
People Management and Development
* Contributing to good relations and communication within the department.
* Support the training and induction of new staff.
Learning and Development
* Attend mandatory training updates as required.
* Identify own learning needs and plan training with your line manager.

Person specification
Experience
* Experience working with the general public.
* Theatre Experience.
Qualifications
* Care Certificate.
* Level 2 qualifications or equivalent.
Communication
* Good communication skills.
* Able to empathise with patients pre and post surgery.
