The Teaching Assistant role at our secondary school in the Salisbury area encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities aimed at supporting both students and teachers. You will actively engage in the learning process by collaborating closely with teaching staff to assist in planning and delivering lessons across various subjects. Your role will involve providing personalised support to students, including those with special educational needs, to ensure they receive the attention and guidance necessary for their academic progress. This will include both one-on-one sessions and small group activities, fostering an environment where every student feels supported and empowered to succeed. Additionally, you will contribute to the creation of learning materials, aid in behaviour management, and assist in tracking and assessing student progress, playing a pivotal role in the holistic development of our students within the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers to assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons across various subjects.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, including those with special educational needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assist in the creation of learning materials and resources.
- Support the teacher in behaviour management and maintaining a disciplined, respectful classroom atmosphere.
- Contribute to the tracking and assessment of student progress.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within an educational setting is desirable.
- A passion for education and supporting students' academic and personal development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards challenges.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistance or Education are advantageous but not essential.
