Salary: PAYE - £16.74 per hour | Umbrella/Ltd - £20.73 per hour
About the Role:
The Royal Borough of Kingston is seeking a proactive and dedicated Temporary Accommodation Officer to manage and oversee the provision of temporary accommodation for homeless households and other occupants. This role is essential in ensuring that the accommodation provided meets all legislative, safety, and health standards, while also supporting residents to maintain their tenancies and access relevant services.
Key Responsibilities:
Management: Oversee the efficient management of all temporary accommodations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Property Inspections: Conduct regular property inspections to identify repair and improvement needs, ensuring all health and safety standards are met.
Resident Support: Assist residents in securing housing benefits, managing rent accounts, and resolving issues related to anti-social behavior, safeguarding, and tenancy breaches.
Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with temporary accommodation providers, external contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the service.
Performance Monitoring: Work closely with the Temporary Accommodation Team Manager to define outcomes, set targets, and continuously improve service delivery.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Experience: Previous experience in a frontline housing service or a similar environment, with a strong understanding of the needs of homeless households and the ability to manage complex casework.
Knowledge: Strong knowledge of private sector housing law, temporary accommodation standards, and health and safety obligations.
Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and provide high-quality customer service.
