This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
We are looking for a calm, patient, and fun-loving direct payment worker for an 11-year-old boy who lives in the Bridlington area. The support we are looking for is 9 hours per week during term time and 13 hours per week during the summer holidays. The days and times are flexible and can be arranged with the family.
This young person always has a smile on his face and loves being out in the community, kept busy, and going to the beach.
This young person has a diagnosis of cerebral palsy and ongoing health needs. He is able to communicate his needs verbally; however, he needs time to communicate and likes to receive reassurance once he is understood. This young person is peg-fed every 3 or 4 hours, which is all made up by his Mum, so training on how to complete the feed will be provided.
The right person will provide this young person with opportunities to spend time away from his family home, accessing other activities, and spending time in the community to provide him with opportunities to build a relationship with other trusted adults and provide his parent with a short break from her caring role.
Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to fulfill their potential and aspirations.
While caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker; the right attitude and a person-centered approach are more important.
