Cover Supervisor

GSL Education’s North Yorkshire branch is seeking for a Cover Supervisor to work at a Client Secondary School located 13 miles north of York, North Yorkshire, to in November 2024. You will provide cover for absent teachers, delivering pre-planned lessons and managing student behaviour, across the curriculum. This role is perfect for individuals with experience in education, training, or youth work, looking to gain further classroom experience.

The school is an comprehensive secondary school with students aged 11-18 graded “Good” by Ofsted in quality of education and personal development this year.
They have students from over 35 primary schools, which contributes to the friendly, diverse environment at the school.

At Key Stage 5, the school collaborates with another School, where many of their students go on to University with others securing Apprenticeships or employment.
The school works hard to make sure that every student graduates with the knowledge and self-assurance necessary to actively participate in their communities and the credentials required to access the next stage of their education.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
Supervise classes across the curriculum in the event of a teacher absence.
Ensure that pupils are engaging in pre-planned work.
Manage pupil behaviour to create a safe and positive learning environment.
Support students with any questions or problems during lessons.
Provide feedback to the class teacher on pupil attendance, engagement and completion of work tasks.
Senior Cover Supervisor Requirements:
Hold an NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher or be a Graduate considering a career in education.
Have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
Previous experience in an educational or training role (teaching experience desirable but not essential).
Empathise with young people and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
A passion for education and supporting young people.
Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
