Job Description CF Children, Education and Justice Services Team Leader – Family Based Care The Drumbrae Library Hub Salary: £50,550 – £60,506 Hours: 36 per week This post is within The Specialist Disability Foster Care Team within Family Based Care. The City of Edinburgh Council is currently undergoing a service review and as part of this structure posts can be subject to change. To provide leadership, professional support and supervision to social work professionals within the fostering service. To work within the Family Base Care Intake Service which operates on a duty rota basis. To ensure that resources are managed in a way which is consistent with organisational planning. To be part of a management team across Family Based Care taking responsibility for delivering a high quality foster care service, ensuring service delivery supports good outcomes for children and young people. To demonstrate an enhanced ability to understand and respond effectively to child and young people who live with a range of disabilities and complex needs. To ensure service delivery meets Edinburgh’s Standards, relevant foster care regulations, legislation and policy. To lead the team in order to meet need, manage risk and operate in ways that are consistent with statutory duties and council policy and procedure. This includes appropriate action when standards are not met. To offer sound professional advice, consultation and supervision to team members, including advice on effective use of safeguarding measures within a foster care setting. To make recommendations to senior managers about planning for children and families. This includes acting in a capacity independent from services directly managed by the post holder, eg chairing fostering and adoption panels and making recommendations to the Agency Decision Maker. To contribute to The Service Improvement Plan and continuously seek to improve service delivery in a way which is consistent with wider council and multi agency service planning. To undertake additional tasks as directed by the Team Manager and Service Manager, taking into account the wider needs of Children’s Services and the skills and strengths of the post holder. To manage staff within the policies and procedures of City of Edinburgh, promptly advising the Team Manager regarding any issues which may require to be considered in relation to disciplinary procedure, absence management procedure, fair treatment or grievance. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
