Workshop Manager

We are looking to appoint a Workshop Manager who will be responsible for managing multiple projects for a steel fabrications and installation company. We are looking for someone with industry experience ideally with a steelworks fabrication and install background to help them build an effective team to deliver their projects on time and to budget. This is a new and exciting role which has huge scope for a positive, highly motivated person and driven candidate who can really make it their own.

Southern Engineering & Marine CO LTD is a small business in Stockbridge. We are professional, agile, and our goal is to be the most reliable, forward-thinking steelworks company in the South of the UK by inspiring and challenging our people to provide the best service to our customers.
Southern Engineering & Marine Co is at the forefront of the Marine infrastructure and steelwork industries selling our product UK wide. We have a small team of around 20 fully trained welders, steel erectors, and pipefitters.
The company has its own workshop, site gangs, and management team in place to help you thrive in your new position. We are a small team of approximately 25 employees.

Key Responsibilities
1. Review and create efficient and effective processes for smooth running of workshop
2. Build a solid team of subcontractors and in-house trades
3. Provide weekly updates to the project manager/project coordinator with the progress of each project
4. Manage a team of welder/fabricators
5. Liaise with clients
6. Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management system and BS EN 1090 standards
7. Knowledge of paint systems and Marine infrastructure projects
8. Welder traceability
Minimum Requirements
1. Experience of working for or closely with a managing director
2. Ability to use established management principles to deliver multiple projects
3. Familiarity with using project management software and online systems
4. Good understanding of the steelwork industry
5. Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
6. Outgoing personality with ambition
7. Must be willing to be flexible, ‘hands on’ when required and work across teams to support colleagues as necessary
8. 28 days’ holiday plus bank and public holidays
