Requirements of the Business Development Manager Must be sales driven and hungry to succeed and be an established field sales person Able to demonstrate a good track record of sales and hitting targets on an individual basis Strong analytical skills and numbers driven Ability to build good working relationships with customers and colleagues Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines Be competent and confident at networking (inc out of hours) Has demonstrable evidence of closing deals on a consistent basis Produce business plan for customer portfolio to achieve annual sales and margin targets in conjunction with Sales Director Achieve Business plan Work with Credit Control to ensure customers comply with terms and conditions of trading. Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager Sales Manage a portfolio of customers, Constantly seek new opportunities to expand the portfolio and increase margin through: Prospecting new customers and regaining lost business range extensions, working with suppliers and own brand offering Monitor sales performance and activity levels and produce monthly report detailing key result areas. Maintain appropriate records on clients and sales activities.Produce reports as required to the management team for review, and complete any customer reporting that may be required within required timescales. Strong networking presence within industry related events Customer service Maintain and grow existing portfolio by regular interaction with customers to achieve agreed financial targets (Sales and Margin) Calling on customers on a regular basis, providing quotes and ensuring that enquiries and issues are followed up in a timely manner. Maintain price files and advising customers of increases, managing expectations to ensure business is retained There is an element of account management within the role as well although its likely to be a 50/50 split between new business and account management with a focus on new business development.Within account management you will also work very closely with customer service to produce quotes and tenders etc. Ideally you will come from a distribution/logistics or high volume product business but this is not essential.
