Clinical Pharmacist - Medicines Information and Optimisation
NHS AfC: Band 7
Job overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our energetic Medicines Information team, which plays a key role in answering medicine queries from prescribers & primary care colleagues as well as supporting the Medicines Optimisation & clinical teams in the Trust. As part of a wider MO team, you will work closely with the medicines safety & clinical teams to provide support, including drug reviews for the Medicines Management Committees. It is essential that you can analyse complex medication information and have excellent communication skills. Ideally, you will have knowledge of how a Medicines Information service runs and have good critical appraisal skills, as well as influencing, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
At this large teaching hospital, you will be involved in education and training of staff. You must work on your own initiative, but also within a team, able to recognise your own limitations. A broad clinical knowledge is essential. As an ambassador of the MO Team which constantly drives safety and quality improvement, you will be encouraged to get involved with research and identify areas for service development and promotion. We are keen for qualified Pharmacists with experience in MI to apply for this exciting opportunity. However, a full training package is available for those with less experience. We want you to contribute to the provision of a high-quality MO service to practitioners at MFT, primary care, and the public in Manchester.
Main duties of the job
1. Working as part of the Medicines Information and Optimisation Team to identify, promote and share best practice and quality improvement with respect to medicines optimisation, and ensure the safe, effective, and economic use of medicines.
2. Provision of a ward based clinical service.
3. Acting as a role model in medication information and maintaining the profile of medication information across the Trust.
4. Supporting the provision of Medicines Information/Optimisation services within Manchester University Foundation Trust.
5. Promoting the use of medication related policies, guidelines, and procedures by other healthcare professions to ensure the safe, effective, cost effective and timely use of medicines with the Trust.
