The Role We are looking for an ambitious and passionate Head of Marketing & Social Engagement Strategies to become part of our fan engagement team. You’ll need to be a real team player with a desire to get stuck in, but you’ll also play a pivotal role in leading and moulding the team, with the support needed to grow and develop as you join us on an exciting journey. Digital is at the heart of everything we do, so vast experience of digital marketing with a high awareness of social media is key, particularly when it comes to stickiness, knowing how to keep an audience engaged and having strategies to re-engage. But it’s not all online, we engage with sports fans in lots of different ways, and you will be central to leading the accounts and looking for ways to engage through the ideation and execution of events, matchday experiences and all other forms of media campaigns. You’ll thrive on challenging the norm and being disruptive, finding new ways to cut through the noise and find innovative ways to communicate with sports fans. The engagement team are central to driving and shaping global membership and loyalty & reward schemes on behalf of the clubs we work with, creating long term strategies for the acquisition and retention of fans, considering the scheme benefits and how they’re delivered, whilst being part of the ideas team to advance our own tech solutions, and owning the relationships with the client brand, helping to guide them through the exciting world of fan engagement. You’ll be given ownership of the marketing function and budgets, creating hard hitting strategies to ensure we drive forward, building on the foundations in place to enable growth in-line with our own company ambitions. Responsibilities This is a strategic and senior role within the company, so it’s pivotal you have experience in the following: Growing and engaging audiences Creating highly detailed marketing strategies to drive awareness of subscription and loyalty & rewards schemes for global sports brands. Creating long and short-term strategies to drive traffic; generate acquisition, and create retention through stickiness via on-going engagement across our platforms. Generating impact across our fan social platforms which are built specifically to allow sports clubs to engage with fans on a personal level. Identifying new opportunities and reporting on expected outcomes. Building impactful retention strategies, leveraged by the delivery of benefits and constant awareness comms. Working with content and creative teams to devise and shape strategies to engage through the delivery of content that resonates. Exploring opportunities to drive engagement through influencer marketing, by identifying key figures within the relevant sports to bring the strategy to life. Identifying opportunities to drive engagement through events and activations. You’ll be given opportunities to drive awareness of membership schemes at sporting events, whilst also conceiving events to deliver upon benefit propositions. Managing marketing budgets and spend for each client. Leading a marketing department, ensuring the team has the required support to deliver against the strategies. Working with data analysts to shape clear and impactful reporting to help you and the wider team understand what is and isn’t working from a marketing perspective. Using the reports to shape and drive future strategies, and keep key stakeholders informed. Identifying opportunities to use content to drive engagement across various channels. You’ll work with our in-house content teams to bring ideas to life and shape the roll-out. Working directly with clients to plan and drive marketing opportunities through their own channels. Exploring opportunities available via direct advertising or content creation. Identifying areas of growth by giving the end user additional benefits or incentives to engage. Such as opportunities to create key benefits, quick sign-up journeys, reward propositions, or recognition and recommendation strategies. Identifying fresh opportunities to engage an existing audience to maximise retention. Creating detailed and solid briefs for tech solutions to help drive engagement. In our case this will be briefing the in-house tech-teams on updates to our own platforms to drive engagement. Owning and shaping relationships with clients and suppliers. Working with external partners to ensure the marketing performance against budgets. Developing user journeys from point of initial engagement through to sale/ sign-up to create simple on-boarding that has a consistent message delivery. Keeping on top of and working to best practices across digital marketing. Being flexible and having the ability to work occasional weekends or evenings around events and client meetings. About You A strong knowledge of sport is important, you’ll be a fan, you’ll have a good understanding of how fans think, what makes them tick and what it takes to create a truly emotive hook. Experienced in working on social stickiness, with strategies to keep people engaged, whilst also driving new traffic, and bringing back customers to re-engage. Ideally you’ll also have experience of promoting and working with loyalty and rewards style subscription services, and engagement with sport fans. You’ll be adaptable and flexible, able to move with the ever-changing digital marketing landscape and always on top of the latest trends and techniques. You’ll be a leader, highly organised, forward thinking, brimming with ideas and you’ll have experience in getting the best out of people. You won’t be scared to identify and try new opportunities, comfortable and motivated in challenging the norm or pushing forward new ways of thinking. You’ll be a creative thinker who loves to disrupt and come up with seriously engaging ideas, who loves to get involved in conceiving unique content ideas and marketing solutions to drive impact with audiences across a wide range of channels. A strong background in digital and social marketing, either agency or brand-side. Proven track record in achieving results by thinking outside the box. A wealth of digital marketing expertise, with a history of delivering against objectives. Experienced in creating and executing well thought out long and short-term marketing strategies, providing key information to stakeholders to get their buy-in and ensure they understand the output. A creative and strategic thinker. A real passion to drive impactful engagement across social. Experience in test and learn strategies, shaping results through quick thinking, adapting ideas to create solutions to problems. Highly experienced in using data to shape campaigns and position future strategies. You’ll understand the importance of great content and the role it can play in marketing engagement and how to flex it across different channels, ideally experienced in working directly with content teams to produce media that will drive recognition. Ability to strongly relay outcomes and reporting, giving confidence to stakeholders and clients by earning trust. A passion for doing things differently and disrupting the norm. Experience in leading a team and getting the best out of them. Be inspiring and use your experience to guide and shape them. Exceptional organisational skills, with vast experience in creating and working to critical paths, documenting journeys and creating truly strong briefs. A willingness to get stuck in with each task, this isn’t a role for someone who just likes to instruct, you’ll enjoy getting involved and seeing your ideas come to life. A great communicator who is comfortable being the go-to person for our clients. Ability to work at events when the need arises, sometimes during evenings and weekends.
