Great opportunity to join an expanding team as an experienced Underwriter. You will be based in one of our client's offices, located in the city centre of Manchester, working within the Loans Department.
The main responsibility of this role is to assess all loan applications, consider all financial circumstances, and make effective recommendations and decisions based on the business' established loan policy and procedures.
Further duties and responsibilities include:
1. Making recommendations to improve the loan process and identify trends.
2. Advising members on loan criteria and the information/documentation they need to provide with their application.
3. Assessing the creditworthiness of applicants through credit referencing and discussions with members where necessary.
4. Authorising or declining loan applications with clear reasoning and justification of the decision.
5. Accurately recording information related to decisions.
6. Working with colleagues to develop and promote loans and other products.
7. Ensuring adherence to loan policies and procedures.
8. Providing reports to the senior management team on the performance of loan products against targets.
9. Handling customer enquiries.
10. Manual and electronic filing.
11. Providing information about services to members.
12. General ad-hoc office duties as required.
The successful candidate must have previous underwriting experience, a high level of interpersonal skills, demonstrate a sense of urgency around the delivery of customer needs, and be able to take ownership/accountability of issues.
Hours of work will be 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with 2 days of working from home and 3 days within the Manchester city centre office.
