As a Specialty Doctor on Hazel Ward, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a dynamic environment where your skills and passion for high-quality patient care will flourish. Main duties of the job
1. Collaborate with a supportive medical team, including a Consultant Psychiatrist and up to two Trainee Doctors.
2. Utilize your three years of experience in general adult psychiatry to contribute to the care of male inpatients on a busy acute psychiatric ward.
3. Play a pivotal role in supporting the development of Trainee Doctors and provide cover during the absence of the Consultant Psychiatrist.
4. Showcase your excellent team-working, organizational, and initiative-taking skills.
5. Demonstrate effective communication and empathic skills.

Job description
Job responsibilities
The duties of the post include the physical and psychiatric assessment and treatment of patients suffering from severe and enduring mental disorders who are admitted to Hazel Ward. The post-holder is required to review new patients within 72 hours of admission. Regular clinical supervision will be provided weekly by the Consultant.
The post-holder will work with a medical team consisting of a Consultant Psychiatrist, ward junior doctor and foundation trainee. The post-holder will contribute to the supervision and teaching of the trainees and medical students on rotation, and is expected to contribute and support in other clinical duties (senior reviews of newly admitted patients, report writing, prescribing, etc) and writing discharge summaries.
The post-holder may be required to work in other localities in line with the needs of the service.

24. Experience as a fixed term trainee or as a Specialty Doctor on a part time or flexible basis in the field of general adult psychiatry.
25. Four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty?
