Share knowledge and skills in a wide range of areas, but particularly legal and practice issues as they relate to mental health legislation. Assist with formal and informal education activities for users and carers. Wherever appropriate, assist in health promotion initiatives. Wherever appropriate promote Brief Solution Focused therapy as the model of intervention for Duty and Intervention Team. GENERAL Maintain an up to date knowledge of all HSC, Policy Council and Departmental policies and procedures and apply them as necessary. Maintain up to date knowledge of Mental Health Legislation as it affects the role of ASW. Particular attention is drawn to the post-holders personal responsibility for the maintenance of patient confidentiality and adherence to local health and safety policies. Liaise with and work within the wider Mental Health Services. To supervise junior staff where applicable Utilise all available resources efficiently and effectively. Maintain up to date care and Mental Health Law records and keep those confidential and in a safe place. Ensure that information is shared in accordance with policies and that information relating to health, safety or risk is communicated appropriately and within guidelines. Keep up to date with professional issues and developments in Mental Health. Maintain practice development, both research and evidence based, including Brief solution focused Interventions, Family Therapy, CBT, DBT, CAT. Assist in identifying personal training needs and participate in appropriate training programmes to meet these. Participate in the process of clinical and managerial supervision with the nominated supervisor on a regular basis. To practice within professional code of practice. To be conversant with and practice within the Mental Health Law 2013. Participate in self and HSC Development Plans. Be prepared to attend in service training and other appropriate courses. To teach students both basic and post basic, other professionals and staff from voluntary organisations.
