Description Wood Digital Consulting (DC) is recruiting for a Principal Technical Safety Engineer to support our UK projects. This 4 year project forms part of a 5 year client contract with a potential and likely 3 year extension. The role is intended as home based with the option to work from any Wood office in the UK if preferred, mobility and travel to customer sites and face to face meetings with colleagues will be expected as required. Responsibilities Acts as the principal designer technical safety representative in CDM terms authority role in project definition, development, and execution Assists project teams during system design and implementation Coordinate with other disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensure that other disciplines’ input is incorporated Develop the FPSA deliverable sets including but not limited to; HAZOP / LOPA, FRA Safety Requirements Specification (SRS), Emergency Depressurization & blowdown specifications, SIL validation procedures and Fire & Gas specification in accordance with project, Wood and standards including IEC61508/11 and client requirements Further develop the FPSA and project philosophy documents Ensure compliance with Functional Safety specifications as well as applicable code requirements and national / international standards Carrying out verification reviews as per Project standards Support deployment of Technical Safety Activities Support junior colleagues in their development Assist in producing Monthly Technical Progress Reports Assist in controlling of labour hours for Functional Safety activities Customer focal point, ensuring client satisfaction / requirements are addressed or met Supports project evaluation (Technical KPIs or similar) Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and equivalent applicable demonstratable experience Chartered Engineer or working towards and member of appropriate engineering institution ideal Good experience of technical safety plant operations experience in Process Engineering or Automation & Control Systems within the oil / gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore or infrastructure industries Experience in Brownfield upgrades / replacement automation and control projects Compressor Station / Metering experience is advantageous Maintain familiarity with latest industry developments and predict the impact on company activities Commercially aware Strong communication skills, enthusiasm, and diplomacy Inquisitive, well organised and have a keen eye for detail Able to operate in an integrated team environment supporting others with a desire and ability to build trust and respect throughout the team
