Job Purpose
The Principal Architect Security is a thought-leader and a leader of people, who takes ownership of the Architecture for the Security Domain.
They engage with the business at a strategic level and gain a deep understanding of the business’ long-term needs, goals and objectives. They then translate these business needs and lead the definition of the necessary foundational architectures across the domains. They ensure that business solutions are performant, scalable, robust, value-driven, secure, sustainable and responsive to change.
The Principal Architects are leaders that are supported by a team of domain experts covering each of the relevant domains, who in turn take ownership of those domains.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Lead in the creation of defining the security architecture framework, standards, principles and designs that guide decision making and delivery of secure solutions. Contribute to defining Architectural artefacts such as templates, standards, patterns, policies and principles that support secure reusability and consistency.
* Engage with business stakeholders and technology vendors to understand, analyse, and recommend appropriate patterns, solutions and technologies. Communicate effectively as a listener and influencer.
* Proactively engage with governance forums during project planning and delivery to ensure that Cyber Security standards are adhered to, strategic plans and objectives are met, and roadmaps are realised effectively. Contribute to the development and ongoing maintenance of governance and risk processes and forums. Perform security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop a security risk management plan.
* For the relevant Architecture domain, develop technology strategy, provide consultancy on strategic initiatives, and act as a point of approval for technology selection and purchase, ensuring alignment with the enterprise architecture.
* Seek ways to drive innovation and improvement across the business, maximising the value of technology and data. Proactively research emerging security threats and deliver insights and guidance to business colleagues. Contribute to innovation and improvement within the Architecture practice.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Experience of leading technology and architecture for large-scale transformation programmes.
* Experience of having applied one or more formal Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman).
* Good knowledge of cloud platforms and how these can be exploited effectively for enterprise benefit (one or more of Azure, AWS, GCP).
* Good knowledge of EUC, networks and telecoms architecture.
* Prior experience as a successful Enterprise Architect supporting digital transformation.
* Significant experience in technology delivery, solution architecture, data architecture, solution assurance or similar roles.
* Experience of leading technology architectures across the Application domains.
Qualifications
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience.
* Certification in an Enterprise Architecture Framework.
