Job Description:
The Freight Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all air, sea & road freight and logistics operations within the race team comply with international regulations and standards. This includes managing customs documentation, ensuring adherence to import/export laws, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
What you will be doing:
· Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all freight operations comply with international customs regulations and import/export laws. Stay updated on changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
· Documentation Management: Prepare and manage all necessary customs documentation for the transport of race cars, equipment, and parts. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all documentation to avoid delays and penalties.
· Customs Clearance: Coordinate with customs authorities to ensure smooth and timely clearance of shipments. Address any issues or discrepancies that arise during the customs clearance process.
· Vendor and Carrier Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics providers. Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements are met.
· Compliance Audits: Conduct regular audits of freight operations to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
· Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to team members on compliance requirements and best practices. Ensure all staff are aware of and adhere to compliance policies and procedures.
· Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential compliance issues. Monitor and report on compliance risks and incidents.
· Reporting: Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and regulatory bodies. Document compliance activities and outcomes.
Requirements
Education & Work Experience
· Formal Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in freight compliance, ideally within a competitive motorsport environment, preferably Formula 1.
· Strong knowledge of international customs regulations and import/export laws.
· Excellent organizational and planning skills.
· Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
· Proficiency in compliance software and tools.
· Flexibility and adaptability.
· Team player with the ability to work independently.
Work Environment Physical Demands
· Able to work in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.
· Ability to undertake occasional domestic & international travel.
· Willingness to work long and flexible hours, including weekends.
· Physical demands include lifting heavy objects, repeated bending, squatting, and manual dexterity.
