The Role Thales Underwater Systems delivers a state of the art Sonar capability for UK and International Navies. Our systems are developed for a wide range of significant defence projects, including the Astute and Dreadnought class submarines, Merlin helicopters, Type 23 frigates and the Hunt class mine countermeasures vessel. We also provide Mission Planning, Situational Awareness and Information Management Systems for defence are looking to recruit a Quality Inspector for our evening shift pattern. As a Shift Inspector within Thales, you are a key member of the manufacturing team based at our site in Templecombe where we are producing the next-generation of Sonar technologies, for which we are world-renowned. Key Responsibilities and Tasks Inspect goods to drawings and wiring schedules Read and interpret test results to ensure compliance Identifies and logs faults Checks completed documentation for accuracy and compliance to internal and external standards Ensures any production tooling used was compliant Undertaking compliance audits Conduct self-audits for the purposes of continuous improvement Update procedures and provide support to engineering Survey of units returned for modification and/or repair Training & supervision of junior staff as required Clearing of Problem Reports (PR) Engineering Change Reports (EC) Raising and clearing of product non-conformance (PNC) Ensure job booking and timesheets are entered and completed on a weekly basis Focus on time delivery (OTD) as set by Industrial planning and APRU Manager. Timely inspection of all new and repaired items as directed by the plan Your Skills and Experience Having gained BTEC/NVQ/City and Guilds qualifications within Electrical Engineering/Electronics (or similar) and built upon these skills with practical and commercial experience in a manufacturing environment you are now looking for your next career move. You will need to be able to work unsupervised and be a motivated self-starter. Minimum of 3 years inspection experience in an Electrical / Mechanical Production or Development facility or similar environment. Qualified to IPC610 & 620 standards all modules. Capable of interpreting, circuit diagrams, engineering drawings and technical documents. Knowledge of ESD Protection requirements. Capable of using production Inspection equipment such as Micrometers, Verniers, Slips, Gauges etc. Experienced PC user with MS word & Excel Must be able to apply sound reasoning and logic to problems, coupled with a full understanding of wiring and assembly techniques.
