The Student Support team are experienced in working with students with disability, health conditions or additional support needs. The Opportunity: The main purpose of the role is to assist and care for students who are vulnerable with additional needs in the College environment during term time. Providing support in academic areas and reinforcing and promoting life/social skills both in the students' academic environment and encouraging students in accessing community activities whilst facilitating integration and participation. This post will provide the following: - Support students who are vulnerable with additional needs during classroom activities, lunch/break times and all other timetabled activities during term time. Provide support to students with additional needs in the learning environment including accessing appropriate materials and equipment, breaking down information and ensuring handouts are understood, accessible and suitably stored. To accompany students on outings and field trips, ensuring their safety and allowing them to participate fully in the experience in all activities both on and off campus. Monitor and manage the students' behaviour when appropriate and provide them with supported “time- out” opportunities. Assist students to organise their notes and folders for their course work within the classroom and refer any academic support to the relevant area. Help students prioritise their workloads. Assist students with the development of life and social skills. Participate in appropriate record keeping and pass on any concerns or issues regarding students to the Inclusion Co-ordinator/Lead Support staff. Provide information for the student's Personal Learning and Support Plan and Risk Assessment to the Guidance & Inclusion Officer/Inclusion Support Co-ordinator or Senior Tutor in their absence. To ensure that personal information relating to students is kept confidential and is stored safely. Attend college-based case meetings if required and attend any staff meetings. Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have attained or be working towards a care related subject at SCQF Level 4 or above.
