Job Description The Role Following separation from a FTSE 250 Group, Fastmarkets is looking to recruit the first permanent member of its in-house tax function to develop and enhance its tax strategy, policies and processes during a period of exciting and ambitious growth. Key to the success of this role will be determining the right balance of work performed in-house and via outsource providers to ensure the most efficient and effective management of the Group’s tax affairs. Principal Accountabilities Compliance Working with the Group’s external advisors, being responsible for the day-to-day control and administration of all taxation activities of the Group including VAT, sales taxes and corporation tax in the UK, US and other territories Responsible for leading the relationships with external advisors to ensure all corporation tax returns are submitted accurately and on-time. To ensure all tax related matters are dealt with in a professional and cost-effective manner. To manage the Group’s relationship with tax authorities and ensure all correspondence is dealt with in a timely manner. To keep up to date with all current tax legislation that affects the Group and together with the Head of Group Reporting and Tax, appraise the CFO and GFC of relevant changes. Management of Tax Accounting To manage all areas of the Group’s tax accounting including corporation and deferred taxation charges and all balance sheet tax accounts. To prepare the tax figures for the year end Group and UK subsidiary statutory accounts and to liaise with the Group’s auditors (PwC) regarding all aspects of those figures. To work with the Group finance team in preparation of the tax figures for budgets and all reforecast exercises. VAT and sales taxes Build processes and develop systems to bring the preparation of the quarterly UK VAT return in-house Ensure there are appropriate processes in place to ensure all non-UK VAT and sales tax returns are filed on time with in-house or via outsource providers Ensure that the Group’s financial systems (Avalara, Salesforce and NetSuite) are configured appropriately to ensure the VAT and sales taxes are charged and accounted for correctly. Transfer pricing Ensure the Group’s transfer pricing policy is adhered to and monitored to ensure it remains relevant as the Group grows. Work with advisors to ensure all transfer pricing documentation and benchmarking is prepared and kept up to date. Other Create and manage a global tax compliance calendar to monitor all filing and payment deadlines. Build an in-house tax function which is commensurate with the size and complexity of the Group Ensure the Group’s financial systems are configured in a way to maximise efficiency of all tax compliance and reporting with a focus on automation of manual and recurring tasks. Ensure all tax payments (direct and indirect) are accurately forecast Design and implement a Group Tax Strategy Ensure all tax risks are documented and appropriately mitigated by controls Provide advice on tax matters as and when required To maintain, update and write tax manuals as applicable to the Group. To provide timely and accurate responses to tax related questions from the business.
