Technical Manager
Work as part of the Site Management structure to ensure development and maintenance of all Quality and Food Safety policies.
Role reports to: Site Manager
Direct Reports for role: Site HACCP team/ QA
Deputy: Site Manager
Key Deliverables in role:
1. Comply with Site HACCP to ensure product safety, legality, and quality.
2. Assist the Site Manager in ensuring compliance to ALL site Technical and training requirements.
3. Work with Departmental Managers to develop a quality analysis, identifying and prioritising site risk assessment requirements.
4. Assist Departmental Managers in the undertaking and documentation of all quality related aspects.
5. Lead the formulation and on-going management of a site Quality Policy Manual and Quality Policy Statement.
6. Document all procedures, policies and documents required by the HACCP policy manual to ensure their timely review.
7. Set up and co-ordinate the activities of the site HACCP committee.
8. Ensure the necessary procedures are in place for the reporting of incidents and take responsibility for ensuring completion of technical investigations.
9. Train out all site procedures, both basic and refresher training.
10. Assist the Site Manager in ensuring compliance to all site Quality and HACCP requirements.
11. Work with the Departmental Managers to implement and ensure the on-going management of the requirements of the BRC Storage and Distribution standards.
12. Set-up and co-ordinate the activities of a site HACCP team.
13. Have ownership of the site document management system.
14. Ensure the necessary procedures are in place for the management of food safety incidents.
15. Maintain training files for all site personnel and ensure two-way communication with Site Management on training requirements.
16. Carry out regular inspections of the workplace and communicate findings to relevant personnel.
17. Manage the site Quality Management System tracker and co-ordinate actions with the Senior Management team.
18. Ensure planned internal auditing of the site and communicate updates to the Senior Management team.
19. Develop and communicate Quality KPI’s and communicate updates to the Site Manager.
20. Attend and chair HACCP and Health and Safety meetings where required.
Skills and Experience:
1. Food Safety level 4 required.
2. HACCP level 3 required.
3. Excellent people management skills.
4. Excellent PC and IT systems skills.
5. Demonstrable experience of implementing new procedures and actively supporting change agenda.
6. Excellent practical understanding of H & S.
7. Team player.
8. Ambitious and conscientious with a flexible approach.
