Rougemont Ward is a 16 bedded functional mental health ward for male and female older adults, based at Franklyn Hospital, in Exeter. We are looking for a Registered Mental Health Nurse, or Learning Disability Nurse - you may already be working with older adults or have an interest in working in this area. Above all, you will be passionate about providing the highest levels of care to the people who use our service. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team means that you'll need excellent communication skills and we're always on the look-out for nurses who are keen to share new ideas and seek out areas of improvement. Main duties of the job Job Purpose To assess care needs, develop, implement and evaluate individual care plans. To provide named nurse role to people who use our service. To promote and improve quality of service provided. To manage the unit in the absence of Ward Manager / Team Leader To participate in the internal rotation system including weekend and night duty working To supervise students and learners The registered nurse will be responsible for the leadership of the duty shift. Providing leadership and guidance to patients, nursing staff, students and learners, and administrative staff. The service we provide is 24 hours/7 days a week and there is an expectation that the successful applicant will participate in the rota system, which includes weekend and night duty working. The registered nurse will assist the management team in setting up standards, promoting change and developing nursing practice, supervision and audits. The registered nurse will assist with the clinical supervision of the team, and fulfil the role of Practice Supervisor for students/learners on placement with the team. The registered nurse will ensure the delivery of high standards of nursing care to all patients, in accordance with evidence based professional practice and trust policies. The registered nurse will work within the multi-disciplinary team, with carers, relatives, other services and agencies to promote mental health and wellbeing, independence and community inclusion for all individuals.
