An exciting opportunity has arisen on our busy general elective surgical ward based at The James Cook University Hospital site, providing care for planned elective and emergency patients across various specialities including urology, gynaecology, ENT, max fax, colorectal, and general surgery.
Experience is not essential, as training will be provided; however, applicants must be committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

We will support you in developing your surgical knowledge and skills through our team of supportive staff and formal education programme. You will work alongside Doctors, Specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists, and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff. This training programme has been designed to support our staff in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the following training sessions:
1. Leading Your Team to Success
2. Service Improvement for Beginners
3. Developing your Service Improvement Skills
The leadership and improvement programme aims to:
* Explore leadership within the NHS
* Promote Trust values and behaviours
* Develop your leadership effectiveness and skills
* Equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead and complete service improvements within the scope of your role.
After completing these three and a half days of training, you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer additional in-house courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team.

South Tees Hospitals is the largest hospital trust in the Tees Valley with two acute hospitals and services in several community hospitals.
The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre, providing all its specialties from one site, which is unique for a hospital of its size. It offers a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery, and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit, and an emergency department housing the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley, and North Yorkshire, complete with its own helipad. In 2012, the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research, and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography, and library facilities.
The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community, being one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country with 189 inpatient beds.

Qualifications
* NMC Registration
* Degree or Diploma in Nursing
Knowledge

Experience
* Experience working within an acute or community setting.
