Equine Trainer Coach (Alternative Provisions, SEN)
Location: Buckingham, Buckinghamshire
Employment Type: Full Time Permanent with travel to the learner and remote working from home

Our award-winning training provider is on a mission to grow their Equine sectors. We are looking to strengthen our delivery team with the appointment of a new team member based within the Reading area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for the equine industry who would like to work within an Ofsted ‘Good’ Government Funded Work-Based Training Provider. We deliver work-based Traineeship or Apprenticeship programmes to all age groups who have left school and are employed, offering programmes within the Equine, Animal Care, and Business Services sectors.
The chosen candidate will be a high performing, qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working as part of a team and has a thirst for delivering high-quality service to all concerned parties.
This will include supporting the entire learner journey, including:
1. Enrolment / induction and initial assessment
2. Specialist equine & animal care teaching, learning and assessment
3. Coaching / mentoring
4. Delivery of Functional Skills English and math
5. Supporting the wider curriculum (PREVENT, British Values, Safeguarding, ICT, Information, Advice and Guidance, etc.)
6. Correct completion of mandatory paperwork to evidence all aspects of the learner journey to an auditable standard
You will work closely with learners and employers and report to the Alternative Provision Lead, as well as being fully supported by an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) to ensure a high level of quality throughout the delivery of the programme.
Essential industry specific experience:
1. Up to date, relevant and broad experience working in the equine and animal sectors
2. Experience teaching SEN learners, Passion for work-based learning
3. Extensive knowledge of various SEN needs and methods for teaching
4. Experience in the occupational area of the apprenticeships including practical and current knowledge of working practices, infrastructure, tools and technologies to support applications
5. Occupational competence supported by a detailed and documented CPD record
6. Demonstrable knowledge of safe working practices in an equine and animal environment
7. Experience teaching maths and English to Level 1 or above
Essential qualifications:
1. Level 3 (or above) Work Based Diploma in Horse Care and Management and Management or BHS Stage 3 Care and Ride or be working towards and have the ability to undertake them successfully within probation period
2. Level 2 Functional Skills in English and math or equivalent or ability to undertake them successfully within probation period
3. Experience of working with and maintaining quality assurance processes and complying with regulatory requirements
4. Commitment to continuous professional development relevant to the industry area being assessed
Essential knowledge, skills, and behaviours:
1. Have working knowledge of the equestrian and animal sector
2. Produce excellent written and verbal communication skills with substantive experience of providing supportive, concise feedback to learners, assessors and key stakeholders
3. Have experience of producing clear, accurate and detailed written reports
4. Be a self-starter, with drive, ambition and investigative skills
5. Demonstrate effective time management with the ability to prioritise, plan and organise effectively
6. Have the ability to build a strong working relationship with employers, learners and colleagues
7. Demonstrate outstanding integrity and interpersonal skills and behaviours
8. Be able to work on own with initiative and maturity but also able to work as a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude
9. Have a customer-focused commercial awareness, with the ability to offer guidance on careers advice and next steps after completing an Apprenticeship
10. Have proficient IT skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
11. Driving license with access to own car
Desirable or willingness to work towards:
1. Holding or working towards an assessor qualification (A1/A2/D32/D33/TAQA or equivalent qualification)
2. Relevant teaching qualification (minimum PTTLS) or Education and Training Level 3 or 4
3. Level 2 ICT
4. Experience of preparing for and presenting to a target audience
5. Experience of marking and grading assessments, SEN Qualification
6. Animal Care Level 2 (or above) Diploma or L2 Work Based Diploma in Animal Care or management
