The successful candidate will join the Aviation team who are responsible for maximising passenger numbers at the airport, through managing relations with existing airlines, developing the airport’s route network and airline portfolio and aiming to grow market share within our region.
About the Recruitment Process
The recruitment process for this role will be a two-stage process. You will firstly do a Teams call to meet two existing members of the team, where you will discuss your background and motivations in applying for the role. If successful, you will be invited to an in-person second stage interview, to meet other members of the team, and your second interview will involve a presentation and competency-based questions.
What you’ll be doing
1. Develop and maintain relations with corporate partners, local businesses and collaborate with the Aero Marketing Manager on travel trade partnerships.
2. Develop and maintain relations with airline sales teams in the UK, helping to promote their products and enhance awareness of their proposition, working with the Aero Marketing team on marketing activities and travel trade engagement.
3. Plan and carry out continued contact and communication plans to increase awareness and perceptions of Edinburgh Airport, and the route network among travel trade / corporate customers.
4. Understand, communicate and promote Edinburgh’s airlines, destinations and connectivity to travel trade / corporate bookers.
5. Seek and gain feedback from travel trade / corporate customers on the EDI product, including the available flights and network, but also the overall product, schedules, ancillary / x-aero offer, etc.
6. Identify key trends and communicate these as priorities for development, in terms of schedule changes, desired new routes, product enhancement at the airport, etc.
7. Organise and participate in events and forums with multiple external attendees, working with colleagues across the airport (especially in Marketing) to maximise their success.
8. Undertake some travel (within UK and overseas) including trade missions and conferences, and supporting the aeronautical team on airline relations.
9. Develop relations with key stakeholders and airlines and contribute to coordinating airline promotion activities including marketing campaigns, FAM trips, trade engagement, airline meetings etc.
10. Support the aviation team with other meetings and events, including the potential for some overseas travel.

Key Strengths:
1. Ability to grasp information and details, including complex route networks, schedules, and connections.
2. Working with others as part of a team, but also able to independently identify, schedule and carry out priority tasks.
3. Ability to develop relations with travel trade and corporate bookers, convey and take on key information.
4. Ability to manage and coordinate events with multiple attendees, to deliver a high quality experience and one that is a worthwhile investment for the airport.
5. Working within a fast-moving, sometimes high-pressure environment with a focus on completion and momentum.
6. Ability to identify trends and pull key details from a lot of information.
Qualifications and experience
1. Relationship development and account management.
2. Interest in or experience working in aviation and travel, or within the travel trade.
3. Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
4. A good working knowledge of the travel industry within Edinburgh and the wider catchment would be an advantage but is not essential.
5. Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
6. Strong presentation skills and the confidence to present to a range of audiences.
