Green Light Trust - Lawshall, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP29 4PJ £28,167 - £32,147 per annum pro rata Up to 37.5 hours per week – option for term time only working Full Time or Part Time Permanent Reference: 0165 Required as soon as possible Your role You will: have experience of teaching young people who may be marginalised or vulnerable and be comfortable working with them in groups or a 1 - 1 setting bring experience of working with people with additional and/or special educational needs and disabilities be able to write person-centred learning interventions for the participants you work with, within the partnership with your team and understand inclusive learning have strong communication skills and be able to build strong, trusted relationships that extend beyond the young people to their families, schools and other partner agencies. be passionate about the natural environment, enabling you to harness the unique places we’re lucky enough to work in to enhance the learning experience for the participants be happy working both in the classroom and outdoors all year round be patient, positive, adaptable, and personable to provide an inclusive, accessible learning experience to each young person. This role will be based at our Lawshall site, but we run services at sites across Suffolk and Norfolk, and occasional travel may be expected to support delivery at other locations. Your responsibilities The priorities in this role will be: Designing suitable teaching and learning activities that enhance and progress the development and learning for young people Planning and delivering quality tutoring across a range of subjects including English and Maths, within non-accredited and accredited programmes Completing the quality assurance requirements which includes initial assessments, Individual Learning Plans, progress reports, risk assessments, planning documentation, ECHP reviews, internal verification and meetings Be the main point of contact for families and other professional organisations associated with the young person Ensuring effective transition plans and actions are in place and implemented for young people Contribute to the growth and development of the EHCP pathway, working within a dedicated team. Work closely with our other teams and relevant stakeholders to know where, and when, a young person using our services needs signposting for further support Undertake any other such duties that lie reasonably within the scope of this role You will need: Experience working with young people who may face challenges, one-on-one or in small groups. Knowledge and experience supporting people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). Confidence in creating learning plans tailored to individual needs and goals. A good understanding of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Familiarity with how nature can inspire learning, confidence, and well-being. Strong interpersonal skills—you’re approachable, adaptable, and can easily build trust. Comfortable using Microsoft Office and other basic IT tools.
