We’re looking for a new Governance & Regulation Manager to join LHP.
We're offering an excellent salary of £50,593 plus some great benefits.
In this role, you would be responsible for ensuring that LHP adheres to its governing documents and regulatory requirements by working Together with colleagues and customers, raising awareness and making sure governance is accessible, simple and easy.
This role manages a team delivering an effective governance and regulation service – taking a Customer First approach to supporting our Board, Committees, and colleagues ensuring they are able to perform at their best and ensuring our customers have meaningful influence on decision making.
We need someone who is passionate about governance and social housing to promote best practice and to support and challenge colleagues to achieve and exceed governance and regulatory expectations with a Listen, Act & Learn attitude.
The role is defined as being flexible under our agile working policy, therefore you will be able to work from wherever is suitable to complete the task at hand. This might be at home, or in one of our offices located in Boston or Grimsby, or somewhere else!
This role will require in-person visibility in our Lincolnshire offices approximately once a week.

What will I be asked to do as a Governance & Regulation Manager?
* Horizon scanning & Continuous improvement: Complete ongoing professional development and continuously monitor governance, regulatory and legal developments to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in governance and regulation to evolve the organisational governance and regulation structure.
* Assistant Company Secretary: Support the Company Secretary and Deputy Company Secretary in the delivery of strong governance and company secretarial services – providing advice, support and guidance to Board, Leadership team and colleagues in the delivery of good governance practices, seeking external advice as needed. This will include preparing reports and presentations on governance matters for Board and Committees as required. Ensure accurate completion of legal, statutory and regulatory returns and reporting on time and in line with requirements – including preparation and involvement with regulatory and other governance assessments.
* Non-executive director (NED) Talent Management: Manage succession planning, recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development - ensuring effective processes that reflect organisational values and paying particular attention to skills, diversity and organisational priorities.
* Governance Framework: Develop, implement, and maintain the governance framework, policies, procedures and systems for control to ensure the governance infrastructure meets best practice, legal, statutory and regulatory requirements with timely and accurately reporting. Ensure compliance with the association’s governing documents, regulatory requirements, and relevant legislation. Provide guidance and support to Board, leadership and colleagues on governance-related issues.
* Board and Committee Support: Provide effective and proactive administrative support so meetings are well planned, papers are high quality with timely dispatch and accurate minute taking.
* Board Performance: Deliver the individual Board member appraisal process and collective annual Board & Committee Effectiveness review - ensuring outcomes are acted upon and constitutional documentation is fit for purpose and aligned with corporate strategy and regulatory requirements.
* Engagement & Awareness raising: Oversee arrangements to enable the Board, leadership, and other stakeholders to effectively engage in the reviews of compliance and development of actions to ensure compliance. Oversee effective communication plans, develop communications and ensure collaboration between all parties involved in governance and regulatory compliance.
* Customer Influence: Oversee arrangements (working with other colleagues) to enable customers to effectively engage in LHP’s governance and the reviews of compliance and development of actions to ensure compliance. This includes ensuring involved customers have access to relevant information to enable them to meaningfully influence.
* Financial management: Ensure sound financial management and value for money in all your activities.
* Legal and statutory compliance: Ensure the assurance and reporting process evidences an effective regulatory compliance culture – this includes working with colleagues to ensure evidence-based completion that required outcomes are being met with actions to ensure continued compliance and accurate reporting to Committees and Board.
What qualifications, skills and experience will I need as a Governance & Regulation Manager?
1. Experience in a governance role within the housing sector or a related field and excellent knowledge and understanding of governance principles and frameworks.
2. Experience as an engaging leader and the ability to coach, motivate and engage others.
3. Track record of delivering excellent governance practices, managing change and ensuring organisational compliance – in a highly regulated environment.
4. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the issues facing social landlords including the relevant legal and regulatory statutory requirements.
5. Experience of developing, implementing, and revising policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure effective governance.
6. Ability to work with a diverse range of contacts and conduct work of a confidential nature.
7. Proven ability to influence, build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Board, leadership, colleagues, and customers.
8. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and in particular the skills to take high quality minutes and write Board level reports.
9. Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute governance initiatives and action plans effectively and efficiently - prioritising own and others’ work with attention to detail and management of multiple priorities and deadlines.
10. Good understanding of Microsoft Office 365.
11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options and develop practical solutions.
12. Continuous Learning and Development - Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, including staying informed about emerging trends, best practices, and evolving requirements.
