This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. We’ll provide an approximate number of hours you may asked to work, however there is no obligation for work to be offered, and there’s no obligation for you to accept the work offered.
The opportunity
As our Achievement Mentor in the Construction department, you’ll play an integral role in supporting our students to achieve their full potential, particularly in English and Maths. Based at our state-of-the-art CUBE facility, you’ll work closely with curriculum teams to provide informed support and interventions, helping our students develop the broader skills they need to succeed in their studies and progress in their qualifications.
Your focus will be on working with small groups of students, guiding them through diagnostics, tailored learning strategies, and assessment methods. You’ll monitor their progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective interventions where necessary. In addition, you’ll maintain accurate records, including registers and reports on attendance, progress, and support provided.
Collaborating with curriculum teams, you’ll also ensure that the support offered is of a high standard and aligned with our students’ needs. You’ll also play a part in creating and using resources and schemes of learning, fostering positive relationships with our learners to encourage their development.
Your role will contribute to improving student retention, attendance, and overall success, ensuring that our students feel supported in their journey towards achieving their vocational or academic goals.
About you
For this role, we’re looking for a candidate who is passionate about supporting students and helping them achieve their potential. You’ll bring a strong understanding of English and Maths, along with the ability to inspire and motivate students to succeed in their study programmes.
You’ll need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with learners and work collaboratively with curriculum teams. Organisation and attention to detail will be key, as you’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate records, monitoring student progress, and reporting on interventions.
We’re seeking someone who is proactive and adaptable, with the ability to identify and develop effective resources and learning strategies. Your approach should be student-focused, creative, and geared towards helping learners overcome challenges and make progress.
Experience working with small groups or mentoring students would be an advantage, as would familiarity with using online learning technologies and assessment methods. Above all, you’ll be someone who thrives on supporting learners to grow, succeed, and develop the skills they need for their future.

Required
• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).
• Experience supporting student achievement and progress.
• Previous work within an educational setting.

• Experience working with learners aged 16+ in education.
