The Yard is an award-winning charity that runs adventure play services for disabled children, young people and their families in Scotland. Since we opened in 1986, our services have grown significantly, but we will always retain our holistic approach and ethos of child-centred and child-led play services.
Do you get a buzz helping children and young people have fun and make friends? If so, we may have the role for you.
If you are someone who understands the value of play, is creative, a real team player, and has experience working with disabled children and young people, we want to hear from you. Working in a small group, you’ll help deliver weekly youth clubs based at The Yard Edinburgh. These services are for children and young people with disabilities, and support is provided on a one-to-one basis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Play an active role in the setup, delivery and development of play and youth work provision, in line with the organisation's values, aims and policies.
* Encourage and enable children and young people with a range of disabilities to play and socialise in an inclusive way.
* Work with children and young people as individuals and as part of a team.
* Maintain and develop professional relationships with parents, carers and other organisations.
* Flexible working opportunities are available on both Friday and Saturday afternoons; you can work one or both days.
The successful candidate may have experience working in childcare, early years, nursery, play, youth work or the care sector. Alternatively, you may be at college or university and seeking to gain skills and experience to support your career.
We’ll acknowledge all applications and will be interviewing as soon as possible.
The Yard aims to be an equal opportunity employer and is determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on any grounds. The above post is subject to a PVG.
