This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Engineering & Streetscene Team at Bury Council. The service provides a range of services for the residents of Bury such as the upkeep of roads, pavements, street lighting, bridges and other structures.
As an Assistant Project Engineer in our Engineering & Streetscene Team you will:
* Assist in the project managing and delivering of high profile infrastructure schemes, ensuring you deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.
* Under the guidance of the Project Engineer, design and implement a wide variety of on-highway and off-highway improvement and maintenance projects for various clients, both internal and external to the Authority.
* Provide a professional service in the preparation of outline and detailed design drawings, cost estimates, and contract documents; developing procurement strategies to identify efficient and cost-effective delivery methodologies.
What makes you our ideal Assistant Project Engineer?
* Relevant Level 6 qualification, such as civil/structural engineering.
* Experience and understanding of the financial, legal and political workings of a local authority.
* Good knowledge and experience of budget management, costing of programmes, contracting, project management and strong organisation and time management skills.
Reporting to the Project Engineer, the role will be based at Bradley Fold Depot, Bradley Fold, Radcliffe, BL2 6RS.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week.
