We have an exciting opportunity to work within our Estates & Facilities Team as a ‘General Maintenance Operative’ Location : to work between our various sites across Wirral/Cheshire (must have a clean UK driving license) A van will be included Hours and days of work : Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm (which includes half an hour un paid lunch break) On call: there is also an expectation of on call duties, which will be paid at an additional rate on top of the annual salary. These are outside of the working hours ie evenings and weekends and on a rota basis. MAIN TASKS: To carry out a variety of planned and reactive building maintenance tasks, which will be varied in nature and will include general building, joinery, tiling, painting, paving and external works, drainage and plumbing, as directed by the Estates & Facilities Supervisor and Head of E&F. To carry out planned preventative building maintenance in line with set programmes. Undertake general facilities support tasks, including furniture building and furniture removals, grounds and site clearance, and keeping areas clean and tidy generally. Work individually or as part of a team to complete repair and maintenance tasks Ensure a safe environment for staff, people we support and visitors by carrying out regular checks and adhering to health and safety regulations. To comply with Health and Safety Guidelines and work instructions issued by Senior Management. Work with various different types of machinery and equipment. Report to the Head of Estates & Facilities or Estates & Facilities Supervisor, any other internal or external damage to the buildings, property or site. To liaise with outside contractors or inspectors when requested. Maintain accurate records with regard to ongoing building or grounds maintenance works. To undertake basic mandatory training and development training where deemed appropriate. You will be required to participate in on call duties on a weekly rota basis during weekday evenings and at weekends. In exceptional circumstances, the General Maintenance Operative may be called in during off duty hours, to help deal with an emergency. Essential requirements of the role: Must have a clean UK driving license Must be competent in the following: Carpentry/Joinery Plastering Tiling Flooring Bathroom installation Kitchen installation Roofing Groundworks and General Building Works To undertake any other duties pertaining to this post, which may, from time to time, be specified by the Head of Estates & Facilities and Director of Business Development. The postholder must prioritise tasks to suit the overall site requirements and minimise disruption to any site -based operation. They should be fully responsible for their own Health and Safety and other statutory compliance insofar as they relate to the task being carried out.
