The Role We have an exciting opportunity in the North Somerset Family Wellbeing Team for a Family Support Worker within the United Kingdom Resettlement Team. We are seeking a Family Support Worker to assist in the delivery of the North Somerset Council United Kingdom Resettlement Scheme. This role will support the Local Authority in relation to individuals and families on the Government Resettlement programmes from Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. This is part of the government programme that has sought support from all UK Local Authorities to resettle refugees to assist with this global humanitarian crisis. Supporting the families and individuals will involve liaising and working in partnership with local government, professional partners, voluntary groups and charities, developing a plan for resettlement within our communities. You should be well organised with effective communication skills both verbally and in writing. You will also be prepared to be flexible to achieve the outcomes of this scheme. The ability to engage with families and individuals and partner agencies to understand the challenges faced by refugees is essential. There are 2 posts, 1 x full-time and 1 22.2hours a week and being offered on a fixed term contract until 31.3.2026 with the possibility to extend. Key Responsibilities of the role are: Manage own caseload of families, which will involve assessing family needs, developing and reviewing plans in partnership with the family and other professionals. Apply knowledge and skills to a range of interventions and activities to achieve targets set within the project. Demonstrate understanding and using the relevant procedures, guidelines and work streams in support of delivery of the council's responsibilities under the (UKRS). Establish & maintain appropriate links between colleagues, partners and other professionals to encourage a clear understanding of each other's priorities and ways of Introduce and/or give information and advice to individuals and families about services available to enable understanding and integration within the communities and/or to address underlying Establish and maintain links between families and other professional (including volunteers) to ensure a clear understanding of roles and priorities. Collate information, and complete case notes and outcomes compliant within information sharing and record keeping This will support decision making by others for a broad range of activities across the (UKRS). This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role. About You We are looking for an individual who possesses the following skills and experience: Essential Criteria: You should be a highly effective individual, able to work confidently alone and as an effective member of the team within a multiagency environment. You must also have a passion for finding solutions, be up for a challenge and be prepared to try different ways of working to get results. Applicants need to have an NVQ level 3 or 4 or equivalent qualifications.
