Job overview
We are seeking an Advanced Physiotherapist with extensive experience of delivering physiotherapy to older people and neurological patients. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about delivering specialist therapy in the acute setting. The post holder will work within the inpatient Medicine for Older People and Neurological Outliers Service, based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
We pride ourselves on integrated team working and strive for continuous service improvement. Service development and supervision are supported by a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Neuro Rehabilitation. We strongly encourage an evidenced based approach and support staff through supervision and appraisal. Attendance at post graduate courses is also supported.
Candidates will be expected to join and partake in emergency on call rota and weekend working rotas; therefore, previous experience of working within a respiratory or intensive care field is essential.

Main duties of the job
To be responsible for leading and developing the Physiotherapy team providing a service to the acute Medicine for the Older People ward and Acute Neuro Rehabilitation in regard to all aspects of clinical governance within this specialty.
To perform specialised assessment and treatment for patients with highly complex neurological presentations and needs, and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers, relatives and others.
To undertake all aspects of clinical responsibilities as a skilled, autonomous and advanced practitioner.
To actively lead development of professional and service initiatives, and contribute to organisational objectives.
To supervise, teach and appraise Physiotherapy staff and students within the specialty.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* Current registration with Health Professions Council
* Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy
* Membership of professional special interest group
* Field work/clinical educators course
* Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio
* MCSP Membership
* Masters degree in related field
EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of 3-4 years working experience at Band 6 level in the NHS
* Minimum of 18 months experience in related field at senior level (Acute Neurology, Stroke Rehab)
* Experience in student clinical supervision
* Attendance at post graduate courses in related fields
* Experience in supervision of junior staff
* Ability to work and interact effectively within an interdisciplinary team
* Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development, and reflective practice
* Knowledge and application of evidence based practice and clinical reasoning
* Participation in audit and research activities
* Establish and maintain CPD Portfolio
* Demonstration of having initiated change of practice or process following identification of clinical or service need.
