Job Opportunity: Environmental Health Officer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to be appointed to a post within Environment, Housing & Infrastructure based at Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley. The posts will be placed within both the Business Regulation Team and Public Health Team within Public Protection.
You will undertake a full range of Environmental Health duties including:
1. Food Law inspections
2. Occupational Health and Safety
3. Infectious Disease control
4. Public Health initiatives
5. Noise Control
6. Air Quality management
7. Statutory Nuisance handling
8. Housing assessments
9. Water Quality monitoring
10. Licensing compliance
You must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and able to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative with minimal supervision. You must also be able to deal with the public and have effective communication, reporting and IT skills.
Qualifications Required:
You must hold a Degree in Environmental Health and the Diploma in Environmental Health issued by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (or equivalent qualifications) or be working towards obtaining the Diploma. Consideration will be given to candidates who are currently undertaking their Diploma/training in Environmental Health and may sit their professional exam in either January or March.
It is essential you have relevant experience within an Environmental Health Service, including:
1. Food law
2. Health and Safety
3. Public Health enforcement
You should have thorough knowledge of Environmental Health procedures and practices and hold a current Driving Licence. You will need to participate in the Public Protection Standby Service; therefore, you must be able to work flexibly.
