We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Retford, UK plant. You will receive great benefits and reward package as well as opportunities to grow your career About the Job We are looking for the successful applicant to support innovation and new product development with the Research & Development strategic plan. You will use computational modelling (within existing software in operation at Trelleborg, such as COMSOL and Ansys, along with others as vital), and the optimization of these models with experimental data captured in parallel to drive development and testing of new material technologies. Practical testing of product applications, ultimately constructing robust digital twins will enable prediction of innovative technologies in multifaceted environments. Projects will involve vibration, acoustic and electromagnetic energy absorption and manipulation. This job will be primarily supporting an exciting new government funded multidisciplinary project. Your role will be central to the delivery of this program, and a number of other revolutionary projects. Working in a close-knit team of scientists and engineers operating at the groundbreaking of technology, in a brand-new purpose built innovation facility. Tasks and Responsibilities Applying computational modelling (electromagnetic, radar cross section, noise and vibration in particular) to assigned projects Developing and establishing new testing processes to support computational model Integration of test data into computational model, analysis of validity of model and optimization thereof Technical communication with customers/suppliers in support of business development or sales activity Developing new computational models Supporting NPD and continuous improvement of existing products and processes Utilising specialist knowledge to deliver strategic projects (e.g., electromagnetic attenuation, vibration and acoustic absorption) Designing, organising, and driving material qualification programs in customer specific applications Collecting, recording, collating, maintaining, and analysing of material properties, derived from experimental data Project Management where appropriate Regular UK travel and sporadic International travel to support testing and customer visits The Ideal Candidate The position calls for a candidate that holds a Degree or equivalent qualification. Computational modelling experience in COMSOL, Ansys or similar. Involvement in polymer and elastomer technology. Experience modelling electromagnetic environment and mechanical vibration and/or acoustics would be desirable. As would Doctorate, Materials development and involvement in nanomaterials. Communication is a key for this role, interacting with internal and external partners. Therefore we want someone who has positive relationship building skills with an ability to connect with staff at all levels. Being self motivated and results driven, with data analysis skills to draw confident conclusions from varied data.
