Are you an innovative and hands-on engineer who wants to make a difference in the world of sustainable electric motor technologies?
Do you have the skills and experience to design, develop, and analyse powertrains and transmissions incorporating innovative electric motors that use no rare earth materials and achieve world-class performance and efficiency?
If so, you might be the perfect fit for our Advanced Product Development team at Advanced Electric Machines.
About Advanced Electric Machines
Advanced Electric Machines is a Northeast based company in the UK that produces cutting-edge electric motor and powertrain technologies for customers worldwide. We are proud of our award-winning products that set new standards in sustainability and power density, and we are always looking for new ways to improve and innovate.
Our technology is changing the perception of electrification, and when applied, it leaves more rare earth & copper in the ground...where it belongs! We are an ambitious organisation, where the atmosphere is dynamic and ever changing.
We have big plans and want to make a difference. Do you?
What You’ll Do
1. You will work on the design of parts, assemblies and technologies for new or evolutionary motor and drivetrain products during the early stages of product development.
2. Using standard CAD software, you will design and produce drawings of parts, components and assemblies, working toward DFM, completing basic analysis to ensure your designs meet the requirements.
3. Ensure compliance with design practices / guidelines and other limiting factors such as electrical creepage and clearance and tooling requirements.
4. Work with internal teams and external suppliers on the prototyping of your designs, developing test methods and completing testing, data analysis and reporting to demonstrate that requirements have been met – this is a hands-on role.
5. You will use your mechanical and electrical design knowledge in areas such as rotating machines, engines or transmissions, and system integration to work alongside technical experts to respond to the needs of new technologies or customer-driven requirements for product integration or modification.
6. Working on all aspects of the activities of the wider engineering teams as required.
We’d Love You To Have
1. An innovative self-starting mindset capable of working independently in a cross-functional team, have strong analytical skills, a good knowledge of mechanical design and analysis, experience with industry-standard CAD software packages, and the ability to collaborate with other engineering teams.
2. A degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field.
3. A solid background in powertrain, rotating machines, electric motor systems or engines, preferably in the automotive industry.
In Return You’ll Get
1. An opportunity to work for a company producing cutting edge electric motor and powertrain technologies for customers worldwide.
2. The chance to join a growing business where your achievement will be valued, visible and recognised.
3. The opportunity to work across the business, using your learned knowledge and skills while exploring and developing on your ideas.
