We are currently looking for a self-motivated, independent, organised and resourceful Scheduler to work for the Maxillofacial Unit.
This is an interesting post, scheduling patients for theatre for Oral, Maxillofacial, Head & Neck and ENT patients.
Reporting to the Service Coordinator and working closely with the Consultants and Medical Secretaries in order to ensure the delivery of the service within NHS targets. The role will involve working flexibly within the department to provide and receive confidential and sensitive information, written, aural and verbal, to be exchanged with patients/clients, relatives, staff or external parties.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who is methodical, organised, has good attention to detail, with the ability to plan. An excellent communicator both written and verbal is essential, as well as the ability to follow laid down processes and procedures. The main task within the role is to schedule both inpatient and daycase admissions, ensuring maximum use of available theatre capacity whilst working in conjunction with RTT wait times and NHS targets.
Our team is made up of 20 Maxillofacial Consultants and approximately 25 supporting clinicians, all of which are looked after by our team of medical secretaries/schedulers.

Job responsibilities
1. To provide full scheduling support to the Maxillofacial Department for both inpatient and day case admissions.
2. Ensuring maximum use of available theatre capacity.
3. Liaising with patients or patient's carers and Consultants as necessary for optimal diagnosis/treatment.
4. Assess needs of individual patients and where appropriate rearranging patient combinations to maximise Consultant operating lists and co-ordinate joint cases with other specialties within the Trust.
5. Ensuring patients' cancellations are managed in accordance with Trust Policy.
6. Communicating with various departments and services to ensure patients' admission for surgery is seamless.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE English and Maths or able to demonstrate knowledge within this field through practical experience.
* Evidence of continued role development.
Experience
* Working in and with a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of dealing with the general public/customer service.
* Awareness of patient confidentiality and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
* Previous administration experience.
* Working within a Hospital Trust.
* Experience of coordinating a patient/customer service.
