Job overview
As Radiology Clinical Governance lead for UH Sussex West you will help lead in maintaining high standards of clinical care within Imaging. You will be expected to work within a cross trust framework and in close collaboration with the radiology radiographer governance leads and UH Sussex East Radiology Clinical Governance lead. You will also be expected to work with the divisional quality and safety team.
Main duties of the job
Duties will include:
1. Lead in investigations of incidents and patient safety events.
2. Oversight of standard operating policies and guidelines involving imaging.
3. Help initiate and maintain recommendations after investigations.
4. Senior sign off in audits and quality improvement projects.
5. Help disseminate learning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead and support the weekly radiology governance meetings.
2. Support in responding to duty of candour, serious incident and complaint investigations.
3. Lead in assessing safety and viability of processes and guidelines.
4. Help initiate and maintain recommendations after investigations.
5. Senior sign off in audits and quality improvement projects.
6. Chair and support Integrated Clinical Governance meetings.
7. Promote innovative solutions to improve safety and quality.
8. To ensure that departmental education strategies have safety and quality at their core, with an emphasis on Human Factors.
Patient safety and learning
1. Disseminating learning from quality and safety issues.
2. Fostering and role modelling a supportive culture where reporting of incidents is encouraged, and continual improvement is routine.
3. Work with the Educational Supervisors to ensure trainees are assessed in the serious incidence review process where relevant.
Clinical Outcomes and Effectiveness
1. Work with clinical director and Divisional Quality and Safety Director (DQSD) to help ensure departmental audits information and NICE guidelines are up to date.
2. Work with clinical director and DQSD in reviewing GIRFT recommendations.

Person specification
Experience and qualifications
* Previous experience in substantive consultant role.
* Significant evidence of success in a Consultant leadership role.
* Business/service planning in management or educational role.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Understanding of the provision and delivery of health care services, and of the Government’s strategy and plans for modernising health care.
* Sound understanding of the principles of clinical governance and clinical quality improvement.
* Clear understanding of the NHS systems, agenda and strategic issues in healthcare and ability to interpret these in a given setting.
* Detailed understanding of current clinical and other issues relating to acute healthcare.
* Commitment and passion for customer focused service with the ability to embed such an ethos at all levels of the organisation.
* Written and verbal communications.
* Intellectual flexibility.
* Postgraduate qualification in leadership or management.
* On the specialist register.
* Case management or case investigation training.
* Lean management system knowledge.
