Our Media is a leading special-interest content business, based in the buzzing, creative city of Bristol. We're home to market-leading brands in craft, cycling, science and nature, homes and music.
We help our audiences pursue their passions through highly trusted, original content – in print, video and online. Our much-loved brands include BBC Science Focus, BBC Wildlife Magazine, Your Home, Gathered.how, BikeRadar and Cycling Plus.
We also have an award-winning content agency that works with major charities, brands and membership organisations to help them tell their stories and engage audiences better – in print, video, and online.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Commissioning Editor to work across our Homes portfolio. Long-standing interiors titles, Your Home and HomeStyle, are two of the biggest magazine brands in the sector, with over 1 million combined users every month. Aimed at house-proud interiors-lovers, Your Home and HomeStyle inspire and empower their readers to make their dream home a reality with affordable ideas, makeover stories and helpful craft and DIY advice. Both magazines produce 13 issues a year, plus a bonus Christmas issue, and the Commissioning Editor role is split across the two teams.
Reporting into the Editors, the Commissioning Editor is responsible for sourcing high quality, relevant real homes content for the magazines, as well as commissioning additional features for other sections. You will be expected to source real homes and makeovers and pitch relevant ideas for all sections of the magazine, before commissioning these externally, editing the copy to the highest standard or writing the features yourself. You will work as part of the Editorial team, attending all magazine planning meetings and come full of ideas. The role demands the highest editing, writing, networking and organisational skills.
