General Description of Position Under the general direction and supervision of the Office of Work-Based Learning Executive Director, the Apprenticeship Director will lead the development, implementation, and management of apprenticeship programs at Southeast Community College. This role requires a leader who can effectively collaborate with businesses, industries, faculty, and community partners to design and maintain high-quality apprenticeship opportunities for students. The Apprenticeship Director will ensure that these programs meet both state and federal guidelines while addressing the workforce needs of the community and providing students with hands-on training and education.
This position actively promotes the expansion of pre-apprenticeships and registered apprenticeships in the region while providing existing employer partners with the institutional services necessary to sustain the effective delivery of apprenticeship-related instruction. Outreach activities target both candidates seeking apprenticeship opportunities and employers seeking consultative services to facilitate apprenticeship program development. The Apprenticeship Director works directly with the Instructional Division credit and non-credit partners for apprenticeship-related instruction and with related staff including admissions personnel.
The Director meets regularly with Apprenticeship hub partners and coordinates outreach and marketing efforts to increase apprenticeship awareness and participation. This position leads and manages grant activities and required grant and United States Department of Labor recordkeeping and reporting. This is a full-time temporary grant-funded position with a maximum renewal cycle of up to 36 months with an expected end date of June 30, 2026.

Essential Functions
1. Lead the design, implementation, and expansion of registered apprenticeship programs through informed decision-making based on emerging trends and best practices.
2. Meet apprenticeship development goals and comply with grant and Registered Apprenticeship recordkeeping, reports, and related requirements. Maintain accountability for all aspects of apprenticeship operations.
3. Collaborate with academic departments, faculty, and staff to integrate credit and non-credit classroom learning with on-the-job training.
4. Provide supervision and direction to assigned staff. Interview, hire, orient, train, and evaluate staff as required to help ensure the successful operation of the program.
5. Meet with apprenticeship hub partners to coordinate outreach and marketing efforts and comply with apprenticeship-hub activities and reporting.
6. Develop outreach strategies and manage a network of relationships and active engagement with employers, community and regional partners, and professional and business organizations to facilitate program development.
7. Develop and implement strategies for outreach, recruitment, and retention of students in the Apprenticeship Program.
8. Communicate, present, and respond to questions about the program from faculty, staff, students, and the public via appointment, phone, email, and in person.
9. Maintain current knowledge of computer systems, college policies, and state apprenticeship regulations and guidelines.
10. Manage budgets for programming areas and assigned grants. Provide scheduled reports and other report requests as needed. Meet apprenticeship development goals and provide progress reports to stakeholders.
11. Assess program and analyze participant evaluation data and employer feedback for quality and continuous improvement. Perform regular business and corporate site visits to ensure quality apprenticeship experiences and outcomes.
12. Make presentations and promote services to relevant community groups and organizations. Collaborate with the College’s Marketing & Communications Office, department, and division teams to develop program campaigns and special promotional materials.
13. Participate in professional conferences and meetings; relevant local, state, or national educational activities; and maintain relationships with professional counterparts and other institutions.

17. Seek additional resource development opportunities including grant funding to support the expansion and sustainability of apprenticeship programs.
18. Perform other related duties within the division as assigned.
19. May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.

21. Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.

22. Possess (or be able to readily acquire) a deep understanding of apprenticeships, academic programs, and regional workforce trends to lead program growth through informed decision-making and best practices.
23. Knowledge and experience in leading or supervising staff.
24. Broad knowledge of workforce and industry including manufacturing.
25. Ability to win trust, exert influence, and work effectively with business professionals, community leaders, economic development and workforce professionals, and internal college partners to expand apprenticeship opportunities.
26. Ability to conceptualize future trends, opportunities, barriers, and solutions to enable the college’s success and apprenticeship program growth.
27. Advanced project management skills and experience to effectively manage and follow-up multiple clients and projects.
28. Advanced critical thinking, problem-solving, and relational skills to identify needs and develop strategies in collaboration with workforce and academic partners that meet the needs of businesses and students.
29. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills and experience required.
30. Ability to organize and direct group dynamics to participate in presentations, planning committees, and other assigned activities.
31. Takes initiative and ownership of work with attention to detail to manage schedules and meet deadlines. Ability to manage and monitor multiple projects project within required deadlines and budget constraints.
32. Able and willing to represent the department, division, and College positively and professionally.
33. Able to work effectively in both an individual role involving independent judgment as well as in a team role involving shared input and decision-making.
34. Must be self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
35. Ability to communicate logically, and professionally both orally and in writing. Advanced writing and verbal communication are required for reports, presentations, and other professional communications. Such skills are ordinarily obtained at the college level or above. However, they may also be obtained from experience
36. Demonstrate the highest level of personal and professional integrity.
37. Strong personal computer experience (i.e., Microsoft Word & Excel).
38. Ability to lift and carry up to (50) fifty pounds for short distances, and move tables, chairs, and media equipment.
39. Ability to meet travel requirements of the position which may include local and regional travel, varied days and hours. May at times require evening and/or weekend activity and travel.

Minimum Qualifications
41. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Workforce Development, Business, or a directly related field, OR an Associate’s degree with four (4) or more years of relevant experience.
42. Three (3) years of formal training or leadership experience in Workforce Development, Apprenticeship Programs, Career & Technical Education, or in a role reasonably related to this assignment.
43. Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
44. Proven experience in conducting outreach and building partnerships of trust with community members and/or businesses.
45. Experience overseeing budgets.
Desired Qualifications
46. Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
47. Experience in higher education administration, particularly at a community college.
48. Experience with Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Programs.
49. Experience securing and managing grant-funded projects.
