Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals battling addiction? Do you have the drive to empower people to rebuild their lives and achieve their full potential? KIKIT Pathways to Recovery invites you to join our dynamic and dedicated team as an Addiction Recovery Support Worker.
KIKIT is a leading BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) recovery service based in Birmingham, committed to delivering culturally sensitive and effective support to individuals from diverse backgrounds on their journey to recovery from addiction. This is more than just a job—it's an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause, engage with the community, and be part of a team that fosters positive change.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Addiction Recovery Support Worker, you will be at the forefront of our mission, working directly with service users to help them navigate their recovery journey. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Personalized Support: Provide one-on-one support to individuals from the point of entry into our service, throughout their treatment, and as they transition into recovery. Be their advocate, guide, and source of strength as they work to overcome addiction.
* Psychosocial Interventions: Deliver tailored psychosocial interventions that address the unique needs of our service users within the community. Help individuals build resilience, develop coping strategies, and reclaim control over their lives.
* Outreach and Engagement: Conduct proactive outreach across Birmingham to engage with and register vulnerable individuals from hard-to-reach communities, bringing hope and opportunity to those who might otherwise slip through the cracks.
* Delivering KIKIT Programmes: Manage all actions related to client engagement, including sign-ups, catch-up calls, and one-on-one meetings. Maintain oversight of client progress throughout the programme, ensuring each individual receives the support they need to complete it.
* Support Group Facilitation: Lead and facilitate support groups on a rotational basis, providing a safe environment for clients to share experiences and promote resilience and self-determination.
* Client Registration and Retention: Personally manage the registration process for new clients, including comprehensive assessments and referrals to CGL as needed. Proactively follow up with clients to maintain engagement and ensure they are benefiting from services.
* Integrated Partnership Working: Collaborate with a range of partnership agencies to deliver an integrated, holistic service. Work closely with mental health professionals, social workers, housing services, and other key stakeholders.
* Follow-up and Retention: Proactively follow up with service users who miss appointments to re-engage them in their recovery process.
* Social Reintegration: Support service users in their journey towards social reintegration, helping them to build a meaningful, purposeful life post-recovery.
* Assist in Medical and Prison Visits: Accompany and support clients during medical visits and prison visits as required.
Skills & Experience:
* 5+ Years Substance Misuse Support Work Expertise: A strong understanding of complex substance misuse and homelessness issues, with experience in a similar field.
* Excellent Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, comfortable engaging with diverse individuals.
* Proactive and Organized: Ability to work on your own initiative, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Mental Health Knowledge: A good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and best practices.
* Team Player: Supportive and collaborative, capable of working with a wide range of professionals and stakeholders.
* Adaptable and Resilient: Flexible in managing change successfully, always prioritizing service user needs.
* Commitment to Learning: Eager to expand professional knowledge and contribute to colleagues' development.
* Caseload Management: Experience managing a caseload of vulnerable service users, conducting assessments, and delivering personalized care plans.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of NVQ/BTEC Level 3 in Health or Social Care, or equivalent experience.
* Proficient in using IT and Microsoft Office Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher).
Experience:
* At least 5 years of experience in the Health & Social Care sector (preferred).
