Role Overview
The Finance Assistant position reports to the Management Accountant and will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of revenue and costs. Whilst the role is primarily focused on revenue and costs, the role offers exposure to various finance functions including Credit Control.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for ensuring all revenue is accurately processed.
* Full ownership of the Revenue and Billing Contract files, ensuring all contracts are accurately reflected.
* Complete month-end activities, including full reconciliation of all invoicing and commission payments, processing of month-end and year-end journals within the deadlines.
* Ensuring all revenue is recognised in line with revenue recognition policy/standards.
* Taking ownership of internal and external queries effectively and efficiently.
* Continuing to seek improvements to processes and leverage technology for automation.
* Providing weekly revenue updates to the senior management team.
* Supporting in the creation of monthly board packs.
* Supporting with external audit queries.
What are we looking for?
* Someone from a finance background, who has an understanding of revenue recognition/accruals/balance sheets etc.
* Experience working in Corporate Finance teams.
* Knowledge of using accounting software, ideally NetSuite.
* Proficient in Excel (including lookups and pivot tables).
* Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors.
* Professional with a positive outlook, "can do" attitude.
* An adaptable and flexible team worker willing to undertake a wide range of activities and responsibilities as required by the role.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with personnel at all levels of the organisation.
Ideal experience:
* Understanding of insurance broking and how commission works.
