Stoke-on-Trent City Council is looking for a Flood & Surface Water Management Officer to help us tackle the increasing challenges of flood risk and surface water management.
What You’ll Do:
1. Lead the way in delivering the Council’s duties as a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA).
2. Assess and advise on surface water management for new developments, ensuring sustainable drainage solutions.
3. Support strategic projects, integrating flood resilience into the city’s infrastructure and planning policies.
4. Make a real impact by developing innovative solutions to reduce flood risk and protect communities.
5. Work with key stakeholders, including developers, planners, and environmental agencies, to shape flood management strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Strong technical background in flood risk, drainage, or water management.
2. Experience in assessing drainage strategies and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
3. Knowledge of flood risk legislation, including the Flood and Water Management Act 2010.
4. A problem-solving mindset with the ability to develop innovative and practical solutions.
