Role Summary
Aubay is seeking an experienced Data Solution Architect with a strong background in financial services to join our team. This pivotal role is part of a transformational journey, where you will shape the data architecture landscape to meet evolving business needs. You will lead the design of large-scale data solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements while navigating complexities inherent in the financial services sector.
This role requires the successful candidate to be onsite three days a week; this is a non-negotiable requirement.
Required Skills and Experience:
* 5-6 years of experience in the data space, particularly within financial institutions or regulated environments.
* Proficiency in data modelling techniques at various levels, including Enterprise, Conceptual, Logical, and Physical.
* Experience designing and delivering data architecture patterns, such as Data Lakes, Streaming & Analytics, Data Fabric, and Data Mesh.
* Knowledge of data migration projects, particularly large-scale migrations to distributed database platforms.
* Hands-on experience with big data processing technologies, including Spark (PySpark and SparkScala) and Apache Airflow.
* Expertise in distributed databases and computing environments.
* Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture methodologies, ideally TOGAF.
* Strong leadership experience, including managing technology teams and delivering to business objectives.
* Understanding of APIs and their integration with data systems.
* Proven ability to work across multiple teams and manage several projects simultaneously.
* Experience in evaluating monolithic platforms and designing target architectures.
Desired Skills:
* TOGAF Practitioner certification or familiarity with Enterprise Architecture methodologies.
* Industry-standard certifications such as DAMA and ITIL.
* Regulatory experience with frameworks like BCBS239, GDPR, Open Banking, and the AI Act.
* Proficiency in data virtualisation platforms, such as Dremio and Starburst.
* Experience with visualisation tools like Tableau and Power BI.
* Proficiency in analytics platforms such as SAS and Python.
* Familiarity with Amazon Elastic File System (EFS), S3 Storage, and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
Role Responsibilities:
* Lead the design and development of large-scale data solutions, ensuring they meet business objectives and adhere to regulatory standards.
* Offer technical expertise and guidance to various data teams, supporting the execution of data strategies across projects and initiatives.
* Develop data solutions for systems spanning multiple business domains, including risk, finance, and marketing, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
* Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure data architecture is aligned with organisational goals and business requirements.
* Design and implement data governance practices to ensure data security, quality, and scalability.
* Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance data solutions, ensuring alignment with the business’s evolving needs.
* Lead design reviews and manage architectural risks, ensuring compliance with the organisation’s architectural standards and governance protocols.
* Create application maps for future, current, and transitional states, effectively communicating these to internal and external stakeholders.
* Implement best practices for data architecture, ensuring continuous improvement in the overall data strategy.
