Your new role
Working on a shift basis as part of the Central Planning Cell (CPC) based at the West of Scotland Signalling Centre, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the operational maintenance plan with the necessary information to allow the efficient scheduling and execution of rolling stock maintenance. This is through the identification, prioritisation and allocation of maintenance tasks, material, special tools and test equipment, engineering support and the alignment of resources in accordance with contractual and performance requirements.
* Review customer dispatch requirements to ensure they comply with the relevant obligations in the TSA contract.
* Assess the operational situation and dispatch requirements in order to inform the maintenance plan.
* Focus on future maintenance work: daily; weekly; monthly; quarterly and annually in order to develop and continually refine the maintenance plan for the AT200 fleet.
* Identify and prioritise tasks in accordance with contractual, performance, technical and safety requirements.
* Create and identify maintenance windows and determine the number of work hours available in order to produce work orders.
* Feedback any issues to the customer in required timescales.
* Liaise with Engineering and Supply Chain departments to identify, allocate and leverage resources to enable the maintenance plan.
* Actively monitor the backlog of defects in order to reduce the amount of reactive maintenance and improve reliability.
* Identify, monitor and resolve any material issues that affect the overall maintenance plan.
* Expedite material demands and act as the immediate focal point for Train Maintenance Centre and Outstation material issues.
* Plan the implementation of fleet modifications.
* Understand Network Rail Infrastructure issues that would impact on the diagrams and TMC capability and agree plans to minimise impact to HRL.
* Ensure TMC infrastructure issues or changes will have minimal impact on HRL’s ability to deliver the contractual obligations under the respective TSA.
* Work closely with the Performance Analysts to ensure capturing of required performance data against diagram requirements for effective reporting.
* Maintain close working relationships with relevant customer train planning departments.
* Actively monitor repeat defects in order to reduce the amount of reactive maintenance and improve reliability.
* Comply with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to drive improvement.
* Be reactive to incidents, disruptions and emergencies on the operational railway and amend the maintenance plan accordingly.
* Utilise the SAP Maintenance Management System (MMS) and other IT applications in order to inform and develop the maintenance schedule.
* Liaise with Engineering staff and promulgate Engineering Change where required.
* Initiate and plan fleet checks.
* Lead daily conference calls.
* Prepare reports and give verbal briefs as required.
* Promote, support and comply with all health and safety practices in the workplace.
* Undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with Hitachi’s new business demands as required.
* Review and update test plans to ensure required maintenance can be carried out without a negative impact to testing schedules.
* Any other duties as directed by the AT200 Production Planning Manager.
About you
Essential
Licences / Competences
* Sound knowledge of railway operations.
* Previous experience of train planning and train diagrams.
* Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, railway rules and regulations.
* Excellent problem solving skills and ability to think quickly.
* Relevant route knowledge would be advantageous.
* Intermediate IT skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
* Self-sufficient and able to work autonomously.
Qualifications
* Vocational training and relevant experience.
Behavioural
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
* Capable of working in stressful environments for a long period.
Desirable
Licences / Competences
* Experience in lean.
