An exciting opportunity to join as an Emergency Department Assistant at Ipswich Hospital.

Main duties of the job
* To communicate as required with patients, relatives and visitors in the Emergency Department.
* To prioritise all work ensuring all deadlines and essential requirements are met whilst working closely with the shift co-ordinator to ensure an efficient service.
* To be responsible for storing, transferring and maintenance of medical gas equipment.
* To ensure the Emergency Department is supplied with equipment from central stock areas.
* Assist with a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
* To work collaboratively with the housekeeping team.

Person Specification
Experience
* Recent experience within an Emergency Department.
* Carried out patient transfers for those with complex conditions and trauma patients.
* Previous work experience or currently employed in a caring environment.
Qualifications
* Ability to work to SP11 standards of literacy and numeracy.
* GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent.
Knowledge
* Ability to log roll patients and have an understanding of spinal issues.
* Understanding of patient requirements for those with complex needs/conditions, eg trauma patients.
