Job Description:
Head of Data Protection & Compliance
Based in Leeds, Dublin or Malta.
Your team
Forming part of the Flutter UKI Data Compliance & Governance department and reporting into the Data Protection Officer, the Head of Data Protection & Compliance will lead the day-to-day management, including oversight of the Operations, and Strategy & Assurance teams and of the relevant frameworks and operations. They will act as Deputy DPO, being Flutter UKI’s go-to senior subject matter authority in the areas of DP, privacy, AI and other data-specific compliance matters.
The individual will be expected to drive a best practice data compliance culture across Flutter UKI that results in industry-leading practices, efficiencies, accountability and internal customer trust in our compliance posture and data management.
What you’ll do
1. Lead the day-to-day activities of the Office, acting as a second line of defence within the Risk & Legal function. This includes overseeing personnel, budgets, technology/tooling and daily operations.
2. Drive a culture of ownership through managing the network of data and technology owners and stewards across the business.
3. Provide professional advice and support on data protection, privacy, and AI compliance as a proactive SME.
4. Collaborate with key partners within Flutter UKI to ensure compliance with data governance, management, security, and product frameworks.
5. Lead key DP and AI related programmes and projects.
6. Support the DPO & DGO with strategy and leadership as needed.
7. Oversee the work of the Operations and Strategy Assurance teams, providing guidance and direction.
How you’ll do it
1. Have confirmed experience in DP, privacy, and AI ethics/compliance, ideally in a senior DP or deputy DPO role.
2. Proven track record in leading data protection and privacy programs within similar organizations.
3. Expertise in enterprise-grade DP and privacy management software.
4. People and team management experience.
5. Ability to work cross-functionally with all management levels.
6. Professional qualifications such as IAPP CIPP/e, CIPM, CIPT, etc.
7. Deep understanding of privacy by design, especially in digital advertising, B2C management, analytics, and workplace technology.
